Wild hearts: dreaming, walking, writing in the Swiss Alps

The mountain is shrouded in the mist, your gait is slow and your breath deep. All you hear is the gentle sound of cow bells and occasional chirps of birds and critters. One moment the trail ahead is illuminated by rays of sun, the next, it’s gone and you wonder, if the weather trickster is playing with your reality. It doesn’t stop you. You trust the signposts, you follow the pull towards what is hidden, awaiting beyond the treshold. Your entire being trembles. You are nearing the heart of the matter.

the little girl, the mud and the prince

images-1

Conversation with my little friend today after we cleared out the mud for the horses waterhole and had a lot of fun building a island in the creek for Mr and Mrs Frog : “ Ok, if i m a cowgirl i ll be a boss. But i need a leader“ . I ask her: “ What do you need a leader for?“ She thinks hard for a moment then answers : “ To be protected. And to tell him what to do“. ( A silent listener in the hammock nearby drops the remark “ that is commonly called A HUSBAND.) She however takes my hand and asks: “ Can you be my leader?“. I take her in my arm and respond; well yes, i can protect you. But if you need to “ tell someone around“ as you must, being a cowgirl boss, i think i m unsuitable. She is devastated. Who can she find her “ leader“? She hushes off to get some stuff done but returns soon asking if we can continue our conversation. Sure , i say. So how do i find him, she asks. Hmmmm, i say, i wished i knew. But if you continue to live your blessed little life the way you do sweetheart, i m sure he ll be standing at your door one day and teach you what a real guide has as a offering to give.❤️ ( She was 5. That sweet little tough cow- girl).

Durchscheinen

da das, was einstens so bange,
schon klarer vorüberrinnt?

Daß uns ein Sanftes geschähe,
wenn uns der Himmel berührt,
wenn seine atmende Nähe
uns ganz zum Hiersein verführt.

Meeting Source ( from Soulskin, by Cordula Frei)

Before she could warn her companions, they had approached the old man and looked into his eyes, which now glowed like electric current. Lifelessly, they fell to the ground. Blue formations of energy were now whirling around the old one, as if he were shrouded in lightning.

images-1

She felt every fiber of her body. She breathed deeply into the energy circulating in her blood. How long had she felt this electric current in her body. She knew that it was not his intention to kill her, or the companions. And yet it was in the law of things that no woman had entered his territory before, as well as that it had been said since the beginning of the time that a woman would have to break this law so that what might happen to her on her journey was to happen.

Konstruierte Wirklichkeiten / Kenneth Gergen

“Generative ideas emerge from joint thinking, from significant conversations, and from sustained, shared struggles to achieve new insights by partners in thought.”
― Kenneth J. GergenRelational Being: Beyond Self and Communit

Loc. 744-47
The world is awash in conflict between those clinging to tradition versus those careening toward the new. Yet, if there is no intelligibility outside constraint, how are we to account for change? The major answer lies in our movement from one relational context to another. As we move from the home, to the office, to a visit with friends, to the sports field, and so on we carry with us patterns of speaking and acting. These practices are now inserted into the new contexts, and supplemented in new ways. The words and actions now acquire different functions. They become increasingly meaning/full.

Dreamgates/Songlines and the Art of Story Telling

If stories come to you, care for them. And learn to give them away where they are needed. Sometimes a person needs a story more than food to stay alive.
—Barry Lopez, in Crow and Weasel

Those who do not have power over the story that dominates their lives, the power to retell it, rethink it, deconstruct it, joke about it, and change it as times change, truly are powerless, because they cannot think new thoughts. —Salman Rushdie

Australian Aborigines say that the big stories—the stories worth telling and retelling, the ones in which you may find the meaning of your life—are forever stalking the right teller, sniffing and tracking like predators hunting their prey in the bush. —Robert Moss, Dreamgates

Crow and the Waterhole

“ I am often asked if there are any limits on what I would write for the young. I accept at least one limit, and it is this: I will never tell a story without hope. It is perhaps why I enjoy YA literature so much; I want to see good triumph over evil and it generally does in my genre, although not without hardship and sacrifice. Good triumphs because that is exactly what should happen in a world of infinite possibility (including the possibility of justice). And if some adults are inclined to think that narratives of unremitting bleakness are more realistic, then that is surely an indictment on the world we create for the young and not the one they would create for themselves, were they ever given the choice.

I have watched the face of many a newly wolfless mountain, and seen the south-facing slopes wrinkle with a maze of new deer trails.

The land ethic simply enlarges the boundaries of the community to include soils, waters, plants, and animals, or collectively: the land…. A land ethic of course cannot prevent the alteration, management, and use of these „resources“, but it does affirm their right to continued existence, and, at least in spots, their continued existence in a natural state.

Conservation is a state of harmony between men and land. By land is meant all of the things on, over, or in the earth…. The land is one organism. Its parts, like our own parts, compete with each other and co-operate with each other. The competitions are as much a part of the inner workings as the co-operations. You can regulate them–cautiously–but not abolish them.
